Our Coaches

Ron Turner

Head Coach

North Carolina Swimming's 2025 Senior Coach of the Year, Head Coach Ron Turner brings over 40 years of experience to our GSA program, having coached at all levels- from age-group and college all the way to Olympic Gold medalists! Prior to GSA, Ron was a lead coach and team manager for Stingrays Swimming in Atlanta, GA and served as Head Coach for the Provincial Team in Nanjing, China.


A member of the 2025 & 2026 USA Swimming's National Team Coaching staff and ASCA Level 5 Coach, Ron has represented TEAM USA as Assistant Coach for the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio. Additionally, Ron has been a coach for the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, and has served as a coach for the National Select Camp in Colorado Springs, CO.


Coach Turner's athletes have competed at U.S. Nationals, Olympic Trials, Jr. Pan Pac Championships, FINA World Youth Championships, Asian Games, World Championships, and the Olympic Games. He has coached numerous National Team members, including current U.S. National Team members Kaidy Stout and Albert Smelzer.


A few of Ron’s accolades include: N.C Senior Coach of the Year 2004, 2006, and 2025 as well as YMCA National Coach of the Year 2006. He was also the Head Assistant Coach for Indiana University, where he helped coach the women's program to their first ever Big 10 Championship title. Ron is a past recipient of ASCA’s Award of Excellence and has conducted numerous talks and clinics all around the world.


Ron also coached North Carolina’s own Charlie Houchin, who later went on to win a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. Ron also coached several Olympic swimmers in China, notably developing Shi Jing Lin, who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics as well as Zhang Yufei, the 2020 Olympic gold medalist in the 200 mtr butterfly.


Ron was recognized and honored for his coaching career accomplishments as he was inducted into the Chick Fil A Sports Hall of Fame in his hometown of Florence, S.C.


Ron is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and resides in Greensboro with his wife Amanda and dogs, River and Lucy. His hobbies include real estate, music, and traveling!

Louisa Raisbeck

Assistant Coach

Louisa was raised in Durham, England, and began her swimming career at the age of nine. She competed at the national and international levels, including qualifying for the 1992, 1996 & 2000 Olympic Trials before retiring from competitive swimming.


Pursuing her passion for sport and performance, Louisa moved to Indiana for graduate school, where she served as an assistant swim coach for Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) from 2002 to 2009. During her tenure, the team secured multiple Big Ten Championships. She later took on the role of Head Coach for the Counsilman Center Swim Team, guiding athletes at various competitive levels before transitioning into academia.


Louisa holds a BSc in Sport Science, an MS in Motor Behavior, and a PhD in Human Performance, blending her expertise in elite athletic performance with a deep understanding of motor learning and control.

Ali Hibbard

Assistant Coach

Ali grew up in Durham, NC, where she began her swimming journey with the Black Horse Run summer swim team. She continued to pursue her passion for swimming throughout high school, competing on her high school’s varsity swim team. Ali attended Appalachian State University, graduating in May 2023 with a BS in Exercise Science. During her time at Appalachian State, she worked for three years at the University Recreation Center in the Aquatics Department. There, she taught swim lessons to individuals of all ages, from beginners learning to swim to adults mastering water safety skills and stroke mechanics. Currently, Ali is a graduate student at UNCG and started coaching with GSA in February 2024.


Coach Ali is enthusiastic about working with kids of all ages and sharing her love for both swimming and exercise!

Daniel Potts

Head Age Group Coach

Head Age Group Coach Daniel joined the GSA coaching staff in 2023, bringing over a decade of experience with him. He has coached all levels of swimmers from age group to college.


Coach Daniel joins us from Waterloo Swim Club, in Austin, Texas where he coached multiple swimmers to top 10 finishes in the TAGS swim meet. While the lead Silver (top 10 & under group) coach at Waterloo Swim Club, the age group programmed maintained a top 10 finish at the TAGS championship swim meet.


Coach Daniel has also coached at South Shore Sails and Sienna Premier Aquatics in Houston, TX. 


Coach Daniel was born and raised in Knoxville Tennessee. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Communications with a Theater Concentration. Coach Daniel is an avid Hiker and nature enthusiast and resides in Greensboro NC.

Abby Lindsay

Assistant coach

Coach Abby was raised in Greensboro, NC and began swimming when she was 7 years old with GSA. She trained and competed with the team throughout her whole career until she graduated and attended Georgia Southern University, where she swam at the Division I level for four years.


She found a passion for coaching when she took over as head coach for the Bur Mil Marlins in the Greensboro CSA and has been coaching for them ever since. She took her next steps in coaching by becoming a USA swim coach and started coaching for a local club team in Statesboro, GA for the past year and a half.


Abby is a graduate of Georgia Southern with a BS in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. She is excited to be coaching her "home" team and continues to grow as coach.
